Passing of Refuge Volunteer and Friends Member Beverly Spande

With a heavy heart we wanted to share that long-time volunteer and Friends Board Member Bev Spande passed away last week. You can find her full obituary here.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Central Lutheran Church, Winona. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Lunch will be served following the service.

Bev began volunteering on the Refuge in 1996 and was a common fixture at Refuge and Friends events over the years. She also held every Friends Board member position and was named the Refuge Volunteer of the Year in 2020. She was an amazing woman who will be remembered for her generosity and common-sense approach to problems, volunteering her time to many organizations in Winona to the very end.
