Teacher Workshop at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge

Would you like an opportunity to utilize a beautiful facility and resources, set in one of most scenic landscapes in Wisconsin for FREE? Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge (Trempealeau NWR) staff encourage local teachers to take advantage of the refuge’s new Outdoor Wonders Learning Center (OWL) any time of year. All that is required of teachers is to attend a workshop to learn how to reserve the space and materials.

An upcoming workshop on Tues. April 16th will offer this opportunity, and more. In cooperation with National Geographic educators, Kelly Koller and Dave Landers, and the Wisconsin Green Schools Network, the Department of Public Instruction is offering a low cost workshop at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. Teachers will become familiar with the new Standards for Social Studies and Environmental Literacy and Sustainability and will learn ways to build inquiry into student learning. Time will be provided in the workshop to integrate inquiry experiences into existing units of study. This workshop is open to all educators in any subject area.

The workshop will also qualify teachers for the Refuge Partner Teacher program. Refuge staff will go over supplies and lessons available for teachers to use, and how to reserve the Outdooor Wonders Learning Center (OWL) to use on their own.
