Join the Friends at MMAM

MMAM 2nd Saturday

The Friends of the Refuge Headwaters will join the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) on Saturday, August 10 from 10am – 5pm, at Second Saturdays. The theme for August is the Mighty Mississippi!

Stop by our table to chat with the Friends and learn more about the refuge and our volunteer organization. We hope to see you there!

Tours for the day include MMAM highlights tours, which will introduce you to pieces from their permanent collection, and a ‘Making Waves: Art Inspired By Water’ tour with MMAM Executive Director, Nicole Chamberlain-Dupree. There will also be live music in the galleries featuring the Bell House Band and the John Paulson Jazz Duo, and everyone’s favorite search-and-find game Bingo Overboard!, and new, exciting art and river-related activities for all ages.

Second Saturday visitors will also be able to get outside and explore the Mississippi River on the Winona Tour Boat. Three tour times will be available at 11:00 AM, Noon, and 1:00 PM. You must be present to sign-up for the boat tour, no advance registration. For a complete schedule of events, please visit mmam.org/SecondSaturdays.

On the second Saturday of each month, MMAM offers:

  • $1 Admission
  • Guided tours
  • Art-making Projects
  • Special themed Tours & activities
  • Live music in the galleries

Second Saturdays is an arts access program with the goal of reducing intimidation and increasing comfortable access to the fine arts for everyone. MMAM developed this program to change, expand and enrich the way they connect with the Winona community.
